About Me
Hi and welcome to my webpage! Thanks so much for browsing around and getting to know me.
My name is Anna Collins and I live in a suburb outside of Detroit, Michigan. I attended the Grosse Pointe Public Schools (Michigan) as a student K-12 and am happy to be back as a first grade teacher in the district. It is a surreal feeling to see some of my former teachers as colleagues. First grade is a big year for students and enjoy being a part of such an important year. Students in first grade grow both physically and mentally and I love witnessing their milestones.
I graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit in 2013. I have been taking master's classes through Michigan State's online program to earn my Master of Arts in Education with focuses in literacy and technology. I have been on the Technology Committee for my building working with i-Pad management and instruction and implementing the best practices and apps for educational use. I also have utilized SmartBoart techology in my classroom to promote student involvement in daily instruction. I have presented during staff development seminars on ways to best-manage your computer and "teacher-filing" to keep an organized and up-to-date collection of lessons.
I have a passion for technology and creativity and have been happy to help co-workers with some the newest ideas and practices that I have learned about through professional development and through some of my master's courses.
I love to spend summers traveling around "the mitten", visiting friends and family. When I'm not soaking up this beautiful state, I enjoy baking old and new recipes (thanks, Pinterest), making time to get to the gym and attempting DIY projects.
Thanks for stopping by!
